Scenario: You and your best friend agree that if the other should ever have an accident and are left in a state of 'No Life' (or a vegetable (I apologise for any offence)), then the abled friend would lend a helping hand, if you know what I mean. Neither of you think that this is ever likely.

Sadly, it does happen, so bearing in mind the agreement you made with your friend, what do you do?

You can answer this question, morally, legally or religiously, it is up to you.

First off, I am not one to run to the parish priest with every tough decision in my life, but I'd certainly be praying to the big guy upstairs for some guidance on this.

That said, based upon your brief assumptions there is no hope for this friend. Diagnosis and prognosis are pretty stinkin hopeless.

I would likely attempt (briefly) to honor my commitment through parents/spouse/family and so forth. This path could not be done indefinitely in light of the "agreement". A few weeks/months later, there has been no positive change...I'd lend the hand. I'm not sure how, (Plug, poison, suffocation, etc) but whatsaguytodo?

personally i would feel obligated to keep that promise, and that if the parents agreed, would fulfill the duty i had given myself to my friend. the parents have the final say though.

What your heart tells you. You can't decide based on what other people say you gotta decide based on how you feel and if you think it's what he would want. You love him so you gotta make the choice.
Best wishes.
