I found this recipe: http://www.the-gi-diet.org/recipes/chicken_chickpea_casserole/
and I would like to make it, but it doesn't give enough info. Please look at the recipe and tell me whether I should use the liquid from the canned ingredients or not. It doesn't say whether or not to use it!

Well, I used the liquid from the tomatoes but nothing else. I just checked it (halfway through) and it seemed to be lacking liquid. I added chicken broth. . . to be continued.

STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! I thought 150 degrees sounded really low. Maybe I should have noticed it was 150 degrees C and 300 degrees F. Needless to say, it didn't work out. :( Thanks for all your help, though! :)

Looking at the finished product I'd say drain these:
200g canned chickpeas
200g sweetcorn
But maybe not the tomatoes, if it has a bunch of juice take out half. Tomatoe juice is good when left in anything but the other two items just have icky preservatives.
Good luck, hope it's tasty!!

Most of the time when a recipe calls for a canned product it means everything in the can. I looked at the recipe and it looks like the liquid from the canned ingredients is necessary for a good simmer. I believe if you left it out of this recipe it could turn out dry.
Don't be afraid to experiment. Try it another day without or drain the cans (into a measuring cup so you know how much) and add something else like meat or vegetable stock, your favorite soup, wine, etc.
Hope this helped. Enjoy, it looked good!

The writer should have specified if the canned food should be drained or have liquid reserved and added back in.
I would say to use the liquid from the canned food because the only other liquid it has is a little bit of broth and a tiny bit of lemon juice and it is supposed to be a stew.. It seems like the chicken would be dry otherwise. Better to have it too moist than dried out chicken. Yuck.
Good luck.

It looks like the tomatoes would be enough liquid if the dish is baked covered. There will also be liquid that comes from the cooking of the raw chicken.
Reserve some of the liquids from the other canned ingredients if you wish, just to be sure. You can add a little if needed.

Not a well written recipe. I assume they are using boneless, skinless chicken breast, it doesn't call for it but the picture shows it. Do not bake over 350 Degrees. Do not use the liquid from the veges, reserve and add it later if needed. The raw chicken meat will release moisture as it cooks. Use a tight fitting lid not foil.

The recipe doesn't say, but from the pictures there isn't enough liquid there for them to have used the liquid from the cans. I'd vote not to use it.
...but that's strictly an educated guess. Can you find the same/similar recipe anywhere else to compare it?

I checked out your recipe and yes by all means use the liquid, if you want you can experiment and use half for the first 1/2 hr. it is cooking and check it to see how much it had absorb and if it looks dry add the rest. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

I looked closely at the photo and the tomatoes are drained as for the rest of the canned ingredients I have never come across a recipe that would not drain them....
So drain it all! --- Usuially they will say "Reserve_____ amount of the liquid"
Looks yummy!!!

I read over the recipe, and you are correct: it does not say. It should. My advice is to drain the cans.....most recipes call for drained cans, unless otherwise specified. I think the casserole would be too "soupy" if you left the can liquid in.

Definitely drain the chickpeas and corn, if you're using canned corn. For the chickpeas, best to drain and rinse.
I would drain the tomatoes. The recipe originally calles for passata, which is sort of like crushed tomatoes. You can make it by draining a can of whole tomatoes and mashing them up.
