use a program called cutepdf.
Go here:

http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp

download both programs on the left (free download + free converter) and install. To convert to pdf, from MS word select file->print, and choose cutepdf as your printer! It will ask you to save as, so enter the desired pdf name and save.

:-)

If you have both WOrd and Acrobat installes. You should be able to open your word file the go File/ Print. Acrobat PDF ( or somethign similar) shoud be in the dropdown list of printers. You can adjust theproperties ike you would any other printer, then Print. A PDF will be created and saved probably to your desktop or My Documents folders.

I'd suggest if you want the solution to be free of cost and legal then go for "http://www.openoffice.org"...or else you can actually buy adobe acrobat professional..
In open office u can access the ".doc" file as normally as u can in MS word..and then just click on "export as .pdf"...and u are done!!
