Buying a new one is not an option. I'm too tight for that.

You buy the person a new one or offer to get it repaired. If you don't have money upfront, tell your friend that you will pay for it in installments ($100 per month, or whatever). If you're lucky and the item is still under warranty, accompany your friend to the store and have it replaced.

There is no other proper way to tell someone. When you borrow something, you take accountability for it, no matter what the circumstances are, unless it was already broken to begin with when you tried to use it for the first time.

I own one and if someone returned it to me broken when it was in perfect condition the day before and I spent $450 on it, it's only fair that the person who borrowed it fixes it. Keep in mind that to some people, that's how much they earn in a week! Don't be dumb and pretend nothing happened to it and hide from your friend when he finds out something is wrong with it.

Next time, if you borrow something and cannot afford to fix/replace it, think twice about borrowing that item. It could only destroy friendships.

PS--Buying one from the shop and replacing it with the broken one is a very stupid idea--shows you don't own an xbox. They scan the serial number several times for the console and check the stickers when you pay for it.

buy one from a shop then swap with the broken one and take back to shop for a refund.if you play your cards right and really make a scene you could even get something for nothing from the retailer.this is only an idea i would NEVER do something like that though

Very affectionately. If its a big deal to them, it just shows them up to be really materialistic. Cook him a nice dinner and he can't really complain.

I accidently stood on my boyfriends PSP, pierced the screen!!

Tell him just before you go to bed, wearing nothing but a pair of killer heels and a cheeky smile, ''i'm really sorry baby, but.............''

Worked for me!! x x x

Hey, I broke your XBox 360. I'm sorry about that. I'll pay for it to be fixed or get you a new one.

Put the Xbox on the floor and start crouching up and down on top of it and say that you teabagged it.
