Im betting it was because he wanted a refund for his grave.

This is an educated supposition on my part that is not necessarily Biblical:

On Friday, the focus was the death of the Son

On Saturday, the focus was the ministering of the Holy Spirit to the mourners

On Sunday, the focus was on the power of the Father to raise the Son from the grave.

Each day may have represented an aspect of God in what might be the most pivotal moment in human history.

I doubt it since His grave was free, as was the linen used to wrap His body in. I bet He came back because that is what He said He would do.

Actually, he wasnt dead three days. He died Friday, rose Sunday. Of course, Xtians will try to say that Jews counted the days from sundown to sunrise...but it STILL doesnt equal three days. Died Friday at roughly 3pm. Friday DAY didnt start until sundown Friday. So, from sundown Friday to sundown Sat is ONE DAY, from Sundown Sat to Sundown Sunday is TWO DAYS. He was found ressurected on Sunday morning....thus was only "dead" one and a half days.
Besides, he didnt REALLY die.....it was all a sham, created to allow him to declare himself the Risen God. Pretty good scam, eh?

Three days was the legal limit at that time to prove actual death. However since the calendar was changed and Friday to Sunday is not three days, we only know that they counted the three days, religously.

he wanted to prove he was GOD! and after 1 day your body starts to smell the reason he waited 3 days was to prove he was dead and then come back to life

You really think he came back, huh?

Well, I'll give the best answer I can in context of this question...

maybe a mob mentality had "died" down by that time.

It had been prophesied by Isaiah, I think it was. And Jesus came to earth to fullfill all the prophecies.

He was tight, but hanging out with those apostles loosened him up.

because he is God, he says what he means, and means what he says. he could have rose anytime but he chose 3 days thats what the word says
