The cabinet underneath our bathroom sink smells very bad. I think the smell is within the corkboard-like wood. There has been no water damage. Please help

Try putting a box of baking soda in there. It takes the smell out of refrigerators so it should take the smell out of a cabinet.

If you want a quick fix then u can use charcoal like another person suggested but more I would use fresh coffe beans to not only absorb the smell but give you a nice pleasant scent. On the other hand if you do have cork back there for whatever reason then you need to remove it in moist areas because the rotted mold from within the pores will continue to spread and smell like sh*t! Usally bathroom cabinets are made of compisite materials but some do have cork type inserts on sides or bottoms that can cause this problem. If you have the cash just replace the cabinet entirely down the road if issue persists! Good luck!! You can try local hardware store or Home depot-Lowes which ever u prefer.

It probably is in the corkboard. The thing about cork is that it's like a sponge. It will suck up any and all fluids and retain them for longer than most woods. It could be anything from storing wet sponges to humidity. You might try first taking everything out and keeping it open for a few days to let it air out. If that doesn't work, you could try using lemon oil on it or replacing it. It's kinda a tough situation because the thing that will kill whatever mold or mildew that might be there will probably also damage the wood.

Sprinkle baking soda over the wood surface. leave the cabinet door open overnight. Brush the baking soda into the wood with a scrub brush , then vacuum the residue . If the smell is still evident, try white vinegar and water and let dry with door open.

Take fresh coffee from a can and put about a half of cup in a coffee filter and put it underneath bathroom sink for two days. The coffee will absorb the odor.
