Beat 4 eggs well, add 2 cups sugar, 1 cup whipping cream, 1 quart half and half, 2 tablespoon vanilla. Mix until the sugar dissolves. Pour into ice cream freezer and finish filling to the line with whole milk. Plug in the freezer and start by adding a cup of water and about a half cup salt. Then put a layer of crushed ice and sprinkle salt over it. Another layer of ice and salt, and continue until the freezer is filled. As the ice melts down add more ice and then more salt. Usually the mixer will quit turning when the ice cream is frozen. Aprox. 20 to 25 minutes. Unplug mixer, wipe the top with a clean rag to remove salt (you don't want it getting into your ice cream). Remove the paddle and put the lid back on and cork the hole. Cover with as much ice as you can pack on and then top this off with a good layer of salt. Cover the entire freezer with a quilt or something thick and let set for a hour or two. This will harden off the ice cream. Enjoy.
If you want strawberry or banana crush them very well and add to the milk mixture in the begining. I hope this helps.

If you find Rennet tablets - that has a very good recipe for homemade ice cream - I can usually only find them at a Hy-Vee store - which is in Iowa but I don't know if they are in other states. A website that might have recipes is below

you need, eggs, milk, cream, pudding mix, sugar, flavoring. Mix all the ingredients in container, freeze, then mix, then freeze, it takes a good 48 hrs or more. It is cheaper to buy it than to make it.
