I am afraid that things have been screwed up so badly that the next person in office ought to be one of the Republicans who capitulated, and still continues to blindly support George W Bush. This would be a four year sentence rather than a term in office. The new Republican President can absorb the blame and ridicule because her/she will be doomed to fail. The Herculean task is worse than cleaning any stable.

I'd take a Democratic Congress to restore checks and balances.

Do you mean after he resigns in disgrace? It has to be (ugh!) Cheney. OR do you mean elected in the next election? In order, in 2008: Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Al Gore, John Kerry, Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Charles Schumer. Any of those would do just fine. As long as they're a Democrat, it makes no real difference.

I think Ronald McDonald would be a step up from Bush but if Ronald is busy I be happy if Bill Clinton could come back even though I know he can't run for President again :(

On January 20,2009 a new president will be sworn into office. I have several people I could support in that office. First a long shot Condi Rice, second Rudy Giuliani,Third Jeb Bush. If the good Lord is willing please not that other woman.

I think Condie Rice or Colin Powell would be good. Except for the fact that they're both black and Condie's a woman, which apparently this country's not ready for. I like Dick Cheney, although he'd probably kick the bucket while in office.
