No, because it's taking funds away from others programs that would strenghten the country. By spending most of military causes, we are allowing other countries to become stronger in other areas that will eventually overtake us.

Yes.
First, we have to base it on oil, because there is no other viable source of energy at the moment. Maybe in a couple of decades things will change, but for now we are stuck. The stupid part is to continue relying on other countries for the oil we need.
Second, we have to have a strong military, as it keeps us safe. There is no plan to build an economy around the military, it is just a result of the dangerous world we live in.

it's not a self-sustaining plan for economic prosperity. if you need proof look at the former soviet union. they spent all their time and money building tanks and bombs when they should have been building roads and hospitals. but russia also has very large oil and natural gas reserves which is why they were able to turn it around relatively quickly. the u.s., at this point, has no marketable export aside from defense. that is why we have such a massive trade deficit. we produce nothing and import almost everything. eventually the u.s. economy will collapse as the soviet union's did unless significant change is put in place soon.

The U.S. doesn't based its economy on oil. It fuels its economy with oil. Trying to build a stable economy with energy supplied by unstable countries is insanity. It's time to turn to another energy source, and leave the fossil fuels behind.

It was even smarter for the US to depend on other countries economies! you think they are really fighting terrorism! I mean c'mmon! you can't create a monster, feed it, train it to attack, and then simply trace it to kill it just to look like a hero! how smart is that!

No, because we have no manufacturing base to support a military build up, g.w. sold it to China.
