I hope so,
However, despite good reviews from most critics, it did not do to well at the box office, and had to rely on DVD sales to pull itself into the black. In view of this lacklustre performance a sequel or new series is probably doubtful.
However I said the same about the chances of a first film so hopefully I will be proven wrong again.

I remember reading one of Joss's posts to this effect last November on the now-defunct browncoats.serenitymovie.com discussion boards in which he indicated that the Serenity movie simply didn't do well enough for a sequel. He will pursue some storylines for Firefly-verse via the comic book medium.
Just this summer Whedon indicated he couldn't even come to terms, apparently financial, to make television movies of his series that actually were successful - he had 3 planned for Buffy/Angel.
It isn't just Joss who has moved on - everybody else involved has, too (but, Summer, "Mammoth"??? - however could you sink so low?).
I expect a revival, maybe 5 or 10 years out, with a movie revisiting the characters. But there is nothing definite - just a rumor I am starting that makes sense, and it would be fun if they did it.

I remember reading something on the browncoats forum. It was an interview with Joss and he said that he WILL be doing something with the Firefly characters again but wouldn't give any more. Probably because he dosn't know himself. Apparently Firefly is his personal favorite of his own stuff.

I suspect we may get comics graphic novels to tell parts of the story and if that goes well another movie. As I watch the DVDs for the x+1 times I am once again so struck by how stupid of FOX it was to have mistreated this show thus dooming it. Jayne would certainly call them "A buncha gorram idiots.".

This account has been suspended in the previous and that i have racked up some violations because the reinstatement, yet they have been few and far between. i'm positive this account will ultimately chew the dirt (i'm a Y!A fatalist in that way... i imagine all of our debts are doomed), yet this account has lasted a lot longer than i might want to anticipated, a lot longer than i might want to became hoping. at the same time as think ofyou've got some sturdy years left on your account in case you play your playing cards precise.

well regardless of the fact that the show and movie were pretty good, it is doubtfull that they will make a come back, seeing as how the show ended over several years ago

Great show, but even if they did resurrect it...now it's missing some major characters.

I doubt it, Joss is too busy. All the good shows die too soon!
