Gandalf.
Not only is he incredibly wise, he can whoop some serious ***.

Dumbledore, for sure. Gandalf just always seems to be taking off at the most inopportune times, then showing up whenever the hell he feels like it. Sure, Dumbledore is dead, but we all know he's coming back, right? Right??!?!?

Gandalf. I would have chosen Dumbledore, but he dies in book 6.

I'd choose Dumbledore, because he seems to be more reliable than Gandalf.
Gandalf is used to be out there by himself, while Dumbledore has the responsabilities of a principal on his shoulders.
Gandalf has the habit to let his pupils on their own.

Dumbledore. While I admire both of them, Dumbledore seems kinder in his "bedside manner," (a la an advisor) whereas Gandalf can be heard yelling, "FOOL OF A TOOK!"
Gotta love them both, though! :-)

WOW! Now there's a tough one! I like Lord of the Rings much better than Harry Potter, but both of these characters are very wise. I'd take either one. It's a tie for first place!

Well, they are both wise old men, but Iike Dumbledore as he seems a bit more fatherly, I guess. Good question tho.
