Virises are simply genetic information that is pre programed to replicate in a living cell. Some do have the ability to morph and change its antigens to suit the host form.

They destroy, and have no equilibriam balance in the circle of life. They simply kill. Its not like Grass consumed by a cow, a cow consumed by a wolf, the wolf dies and becomes nutrients for the grass. The are alive in some way, but they only destory life. Kinda like humans.

To be considered true life forms, they need the ability to procreate.

Viruses lack the ability to reproduce on their own so therefore lack one of the inherent definitions of "Life".

To be classified as a life form, there must be reproductive qualities to the organism.
