It's when an adult grabs the child by both shoulders and shakes them back and forth. It can cause brain damage and death, especially in the very young.

Yes it literally means to shake- Alot of young and first time mothers are not used to the constant crying and off hours of a baby. They become frustrated and pick the baby up and begin to shake it and tell it to stop. Sounds horrible I know, but it happens alot because they do not realize that it causes the tiny brain to bunce back and forth. It is very sad and causes alot of damage and deaths from shaken baby syndrome.

There are people who shake a baby and children under the age of two by putting there two hand around the child or infant and shake them back and forth until they hope the child will stop crying or something. It's awful abusive.

Yes, it does. Some parents get so mad at their babies crying or some other crazy thing that they literally shake them back and forth. This causes the baby's brain to go back and forth into the skull, causing hemorraging and death. I'm sure you are just asking for curiousity's sake, but if for some reason you feel like doing this, please call someone for help.

check out some sites like www.parenting.com, parentstobe.com, shakenbabysyndrome.com or look up in google for shaken baby syndrome. Its really horrible. Babies end up brain dead, in comas or dead...some end up with broken bones or fractured skulls. I had a friend who's boyfriend had taken their twin infants one at a time and shook them until ones neck popped literally out of socket and his head popped off, and the other baby suffered two broken arms, a leg and fractured spine. That baby didn't live either. Plus I had a cousin who was 2years old that his step dad shook him up so bad, that he had went into seizures and died. That guy got off scott free.

When you "shake" a child to the point of brain damage, then it is called shaken baby syndrome. It is a form of child abuse. Check below.

you hold a baby with both hands by their arms or waist and you shake them for a long time because the baby won't stop crying or the baby keeps doing something wrong and you keep telling them to stop. It's a form of anger that can harm a baby.
