Anything is possible. Likely? Not very.
Encourage him to talk about it without agreeing. Say things like "that interesting," or "tell me more," and "how do you think they did that?". Listen carefully. Then, depending on his answers you will know if he is telling the truth, or lying.
If he contradicts himself, or can't go on, you know he is lying.
