My med book said not to crush or chew so it is probably a bad idea to cut in half. Normally pills that can not be crushed has a coating around then to help pass through the stomach with out harming the stomach and getting the full dose of the medication. Also if the med can cause upset stomach or anything like that you do not want to break that coating around it. It is best to take whole or if the dose is to much get a lower dose from Doctor.

it's not dangerous, just difficult as the insides taste like crap when you take it in pieces. some pills don't cut easily and break into many pieces, which suck to take. you can get a pill cutter at your pharmacy specifically made to cut pills in half like this. they're well worth the money and do work great. i use the pill cutter for multivitamins as they're so big sometimes and hard to take. taking them in two pieces work much better.

Cut one in half and look at it. If it is uniform throughout you should be able to take it cut in half. If it looks like it has layers you cannot- those layers were designed to work in the order they were made.
