The Israeli economy is MUCH MUCH more Socialistic than the most liberal Democrat's economic plan. In fact, Israel's founders were in large part socialists. I exclude christain fundamentalists from this question because I know why they support Israel. (Military considerations should not be an answer the US does not want Israel's military help in any US-Arab war for political considerations). Serious question, no goofing, how about serious answer?

They are a DEMOCRACY, the ONLY democracy in the whole God forsaken hell hole known as the Middle East.
All of the Arab nations are waiting to pounce upon Israel. IF that would happen, we ALL will be in jeopardy.

Why don't you people understand that the Muslim/Islamic world wants to kill us all? THEY are the FASCISTS.

I support Israel because they LOVE their children MORE than they hate their enemy.

Muslim/Islamic terrorists hate their enemy more then they love their children.

Israeli's army aims for MILITARY targets
Muslim/Islamic terrorists aim for CIVILIAN targets.

Israel PROTECTS their children
Muslim/Islamic terrorist HIDE behind their children

I can't think of any human being with a heart that could support the Muslim/Islamic terrorists.

The question pops up from time to time. It is designed more to deprive Israel than saving American tax dollars.

Consider that America gives about $3 Billion in combined military and civilian aid to Israel:
1) $3B is tiny compared with America $2 TRILLION budget
2) The same people who complain about aid to Israel don't mind that we give $3B each year to Egypt
3) $3B is tiny compared with $80 billion/yr. spent in Iraq
4) $3B is tiny compared with $30 billion/yr. spent on farm subsidies

America and Israel have shared strategic interests:
1) Israel has missiles capable of reaching as far as the former Soviet Union
2) Israel has cooperated with the U.S. with R&D for new jet fighters and anti-missile defense systems
3) Israel's intelligence service has assisted the U.S. in intelligence gathering and covert operations.
4) Israel's frequent wars have provided battlefield testing for American arms, often against Soviet weapons.
5) Israel has kept Syria, for many years an ally of the Soviet Union, in check.

Compelling moral imperatives to support Israel are:
1) Israel is the only true democracy in the region. Arabs are represented in Israel's Parliament.
2) Fair play: Jews are not terrorists (according to American standards) while ALL terrorists are Muslims
3) Jews have never declared war on American values while some Muslims have
4) What is the alternative to Israel, terrorist organizations like Hezbollah/Hamas?
5) Palestinians and other Muslims supported Saddam Hussein and celebrate terrorist triumphs over the west.

yikes, violet, you really found one to draw them out: "the bible says israelis have the right to eradicate arabs from israel" (uh, who wrote that bible??). "vilified for merely existing" (what about the fact that israel's nationhood was started with a terrorist attack BY israelis? and what about their continuously denying palestinians basic things like, oh, water?). "muslim/islamic world wants to kill us all!!" (actually, very few muslims want to kill us all, but the way the west has been acting towards them lately, i can't blame them for getting annoyed with us).

my, cindy, you found a long list of terrorist events committed by muslims. did you look into irish history? american cult groups? israelis? latin american revolutionaries? were you looking at a website about muslim terrorist attacks and determined that they must be the only ones committing these atrocities?

can't answer the question because i'm not a republican, and i don't support israel. personally, i think they should just go back to europe, where they belong and stop trying to force their culture and ways in a place where the culture is very different.

I do not particularly support Israel. Although they were attacked by Hezbollah first. Whatever, I just wish they'd smoke each other off the face of the earth.

Israel was attacked, they should be able to defend themselves. I think that it is big mistake that they are pulling out, because Hisbolla see's this as a sign of weekness., so the backing from Iran & Seria will explode with a vengense and Isreal will be attacked again

As a Rush baby, I believe the US supports Israel because they share many of the the same ideals we do. They value freedom the same way our great ppresident does. They are attacked because of their supperior strengths as we are.

It's one of the few democracies in that part of the world.

Unlike begoner's answer, it's an answer, not a rant....and answers referencing the Protocols of Zion are mere rants as well..

Economics aside, Israel is the only stable, pro-western nation in the area. It would be stupid to abandon them to those buzzards that want to destroy them. God only knows what they would do if they ever succeeded. But it wouldn't be good for us, certainly!
