seem to be able to reproduce the taste of REAL HOMEADE LEMONADE ?

All we have is some lemons, sugar and water.

That have all this ingenious stuff, and it still comes out tasting like crap.

I was struck the other day by a lemonade drink which had no lemon in it at all, while my dishwashing liquid boasted of 'real lemon juice'.

I am guessing that there are two reasons that real home made lemonade can't be duplicated. 1) taste is very subjective. 2) your particular recipe for lemonade is unique to you. IE: you may have 1 part lemon, 2 parts sugar, and 5 parts water, whereas the factory has 2 parts lemon, 5 parts sugar and 3 parts water, etc.

Plus, the preservatives required to make any drink palatable after packaging, shipping and sitting on a store shelf must change the taste somewhat, eh? One more vote for doing it ourselves!

Two reasons:

1. Because by the time it goes through processing, packaging, shipping, delivery, shelving, sale, and to your house, normal preservative-free lemonade would be in lots of trouble...so they have to add tasty chemicals to it.

2. Standardization and quality control. Consumers want the lemonade they open today to taste just like the one they open tomorrow, and the one next week, and the one when they visit their relatives in Iowa, etc. So to standardize the drink, they have to mess with the recipe and it ends up tasting like something other than just lemons, sugar, and water.

I feel your pain, and I get around this by buying Simply Lemonade, made by the Simply Orange people. They also make Simply Limeade that isn't too bad, but their lemonade is about 10x better than anything else on the market.

The most popular, powdered lemon beverage seems to be Country Time....just the right amount of sugar and lemon flavor. Real homemade lemonade depends a lot on your WATER and the acidity of the lemons you use, as well as the amount of sugar. I would say the taste of "real homemade lemonade" varies from person to person.

My guess is that in order to preserve the lemonade, companies have to add certain stabilizers and pasteurize the liquid. Otherwise, it would go bad too quickly. Homemade lemonade is like anything else that is fresh--it goes stale.

I know there are some restaurants that serve fresh squeezed lemonade. One of the bigger ones is Chick fil a. Some ice cream shops may do it also. It's out there, you just have to find it.

Calypso is a delicious lemonade. The absolute best lemonade I ever had was Sobe MacLizards Special Blend Lemonade with lemongrass. It's hard to find. The first place I bought one was in a Barnes n Noble bookstore. Try it, you wont be disappointed.

The reason is simple. They don't want us to have it. They can make it and have been making it since the mid 1950's. JFK was on to them and was about to reveal the whole stinkin' plot. The only people who get to drink it are Free Masons. They use it in their secret ceremonies. If they knew I was answering this...
Wait just a minute I think there is someone at my door. I'll come back later and finish telling you all about it.
