Bush has since admitted we went into Iraq on false intelligence.

Ultraconservative Democrat-basher TJ said it himself(on Iraq):
08-16-2006:
"Yes we may have messed up in Iraq but, at least we did something. America is a superpower but we can't win every war we fight. You are a crazy Lib."

WE CANT WIN EVERY WAR WE FIGHT.

Finally.True words from a pro-Bush Republican.
And they go against all of their rhetoric over the past 5 years.

Is THIS why America thinks its on the "wrong track"
Is THIS why incumbent Republicans are sweating for their jobs?

We messed up on Iraq, noe lets "stay the course" for what, another $200 Billion and another 2500+ solidiers lives?

Dont Americans deserve better?
Why do Republicans refuse to change this downward spiral they're on?

I never agreed with the imperialistic war that was fought in Iraq that was fueled by a desire for oil and the war-hawkishness of the military-industrial complex. It went against international law and completely destroyed the country, killing over 50,000 civilians. The day we invaded was a sad day for the world. However, that's not the end of the story.

Currently, Iraq is embroiled in a civil war. There is nothing to stop Shias and Sunnis from going at each other's throats -- the only stopgap is the US military. It may just be that the only thing keeping any sort of stability in Iraq is the US military. Without it, Iraq might plunge even deeper in conflict, which wil cost thousands of lives. It just may be the right choice to keep troops in Iraq until Iraqi security forces take charge of the country. In the end, it might save lives.

Just to make something clear, not every republican agrees with Bush's tactics. Just because all republicans are from the same party doesn't mean they have exactly the same opinions. The same goes for any political party. Other republicans can't help but to support the incumbent party president, otherwise they risk making their party look bad if they're arguing amongst themselves and disagreeing with their most prominent representative. If you met someone from say France who refused to hold the door open for you, would you say all Frenchmen are impolite? Don't judge a whole party on one man.

That's one republican who you have quoted. There are many more conservatives and republicans who understand the BIG picture. I don't see Iraq as a failure - I see it & Lebanon as part of an Iranian plan to take over the middle east. Iran is sacred as hell b/c they have 2 growing democracies on their borders with young restless population that wants to free like americans, afghans, and soon to be Iraqis. Iran is deperately fighting democracy and capitailism b/c it contrasts the rule of islamic law. Women & children have more freedoms and rights in Afghanistan & Iraq than any other Arab country. How free are women & children of Iran?

Your question implies we are dropping in Iraq. we are not dropping. Our military are appearing interior the finished custom and values of our united states. If we are dropping, why does the ememy nevertheless conceal? Why do their leaders conceal in caves? You, like a lot of people apparently do not understand the stakes nor pay interest even as GWB talks about how lengthy this attempt will take. we've lost over 2,500 very courageous adult men and females. In ww2 we lost over 500,000. in case you employ lives lost as your as reasoning, Then ww2 turns into the worst defeat in our heritage. Its unhappy to work out your hated of Republicans and GSW clouding your ability to imagine rationally. it truly is totally conceivable that faster or later our enemies will use a weapon(s) of mass destruction and kill people in numbers we won't be able to not understand. i am going to guess you and your defeatist acquaintances will be searching to hitch blame to the GOP and GWB. i fairly appreciate our troops and GWB for having the braveness to face agency to do the right element interior the face of the time table pushed media and those who do exactly not seem to get it.

I'd be more likely to trust the Republicans if they actually took responsibility for their mistakes. But no one's head is going to roll for these mistakes that cost the lives of American soldiers, and that's a crying shame.

We can't continue to have one-party rule, that's for sure. Some actual oversight by Congress might help prevent some of these mistakes, but they're too busy rubber-stamping everything that comes from the White House.

The downward spiral is created by the media and propagated by the people who do no investigating for themselves.

Every major power believed the intelligence. The Democrats voted for the war based on the same intelligence. What's left of the WMDs have been found.

Please get your news from unbiased sources.

I don't trust any Republicans, not what so ever. Remember Iran Contra, when Reagan and Bush (41) lied under oath? Funny how when you call out a conservative on any of the costly Bush/Bush/Reagan lies they bring up the BJ Clinton extramarital lie. One lie had a President sleeping on a couch, all the rest have cost american lives.

Yes we should have somebody who "voted for the war before voting against it" (Kerry) He would still be flipping his coin saying, "no this time it's for real heads we go tails we stay". Don't forget Hillary still supports the war, I hope you're not a hypocrite and do not vote for her. Let's not fight wars we might lose lives in like WWII in which we lost over 400,000 Americans let's only fight wars like Grenada. Did Bush (I) get it right after all?

I think we tend to forget how sure the Repubs were that this would all end up very nicely. I guess the question is: Republicans, are you as sure about all your other policy positions as you were about the Iraq folly?

The term "messed up" should be stricken from the English language - it's non-specific and useless!

Anyone using it in a sentence should be made to go sit in the corner.

Sorry, Jimbo, I know it's off-subject but I just lose it every time I see that phrase - call it a personality quirk, if you'd like!!
