It takes weeks to work. Somewhere in the 2-4 month time range. Make sure it's checked when it's suppose to be, because too much iron is just as bad as too little. No one should take iron unless a Dr. says it's ok.

You can get iron supplements in the health food store that won't make your stool black or cause constipation.
