For the past two weeks I have had a redness that extends from the inner corner of my eye to the outter edge of my iris. I went to the doctor a week ago and I was told it was probably just a bursted blood vessel and was sent home empty handed.

Since the doctor visit, the redness doesn't seem to be going away. It doesn't hurt, and it hasn't disrupted my vision (yet), but I can feel a consistant discomfort. I have no discharge coming from it, so I know it's not infected but the pink skin in the very corner of the eye is slightly swollen. I am wondering if I should go back to the doctor, or if there is home treatment that I can do to spead the healing process.

Also, how long does a bursted blood vessel usually take to heal?

What kind of doctor did you go see? If you did not go see your optometrist or ophthalmologist, say you should check with them. A hemorrhage (burst blood vessel) doesn't usually have any discomfort associated with it and normally takes around 2 weeks to heal. To not have noticed any decrease in redness also concerns me. Seek a second opinion.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Try investing in some good eye drops and wear dark sunglasses whenever you're around bright lights. Also, though it may be difficult in the time we live in, try your best to avoid the computer as this might irritate your eyes or cause strain.

SUBCONJUNTIVAL HEMMORRHAGE. IF IT'S FROM A TRAUMA TO THE EYE IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 2 WEEKS TO CLEAR. IF PAIN AND INFLAMMATION IS PRESENT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS. DO NOT TAKE ASPIRIN OR MOTRIM FOR PAIN. TAKE TYLENOL.
