Which series of movies do you like the best? I definately prefer Lord of the rings. the story, the characters......i can go on and on but the point is..what story is your favourite. I think that Potter is good for the little ones but older people would enjoy LOTR.

Long live Gandalf!

I don't get how action could make a movie bad?

LOTR for sure! The last one even won best picture in Oscar's among other awards. The movie was very loyal to the book, and the cinematogrophy is superb. The sound fx are fantastic. C'mon! I strongly suggest to LOTR movie fans to read Silmarillion, which is Tolkien's prequel to the LOTR. In this book you will know more about the origin of the ring and much more. Would you believe that the Sauron is only a lowly sargeant at arms? Read the book.

Most Definatly Lord of the Rings. I wish there could be a continuation of movies... :(
The 1st & 2nd Harry Potter movies were good but the 3rd was a great dissappointment....
My girls ages 6 & 8 would rather watch Lord of the Rings instead of Harry Potter!

i think of The Lord of the rings replaced into an dazzling action picture. 2 and 3 weren't as reliable, yet have been relaxing to observe. while out of the 4 Potter video clips I deeply enjoyed 3 of the 4. So i visit bypass with Harry.

I prefer the Lord of the Rings....I think that the story and characters have more depth and have more research behind their development.
This is not to say that the Harry Potter books are not good stories and worth reading.

Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter are for kids. That's the difference.

It's a tough call. Lord of the Rings is one continuous story. It is necessary to watch all three. Harry Potter, while apparently building to something, is (filmicly, so far) four distinctly different stories. One can sit down and watch any of them on their own and get it.

That said, I personally prefer the LOTR films. I think the acting is better (despite Smith, Rickman, Thompson, Brannagh, Fiennes, and Oldman, the kids [who are the main characters after all] are terrible), the direction is better (curious to see what Jackson will do with Lovely Bones), the special effects are infinitely better, and I think the story is more compelling.

I'd prefer lord of the rings because Harry Potter is so weird because, it does not have that much actions as Lord Of The Ring. Lord Of The Rings Rules! E-mail me at kahnnette@yahoo.com and tell me what you think. Bye ; )

I actually preferred Harry Potter because it put a more positive spin on existence. There were a few bad guys out to get the rest of us.

In LOTR, it seemed that evil was overwhelmingly strong, and only a few made to struggle against impossible odds to change the course of destiny.

Both stories had positive endings, but a lot more people were hurt to achieve the LOTR success. But they were great movies.
