i have a dell inspiron 1300 with 3 usb(2) ports a JVC THC60 and a phillips 42PF5321D plasma. all i want to do is have my tv as my main picture display (like a real big computer monitor) and my JVC unit as my sound system all while using my laptop as my main source. ideally i want to have either my windows media player or realplayer (lightshow) on the big screen while hearing the music through the speakers of the home theater system. please help me. i got a big party next week and i need this to work!!

Heinz is correct, plasma is prone to burn in.

On the audio side, go to Radio Shack and get a mini-plug to RCA converter. Plug it into your laptop's audio out, connect a pair of RCA cables to it and connect them to the receiver's input.

Will it be possible to connect the audio out of Samsung Plasma TV 51'' to Samsung home theatre to enable me hear the sound of the TV through external speakers

If you have a S-video output on your laptop you could hook that to the S-video input on your TV.
However be aware, that if you leave any unmoving picture on your plasma TV too long you will burn the image in permanently...
Because of that plasma TVs do NOT make good computer monitors.
Wiith a DLP set you could have got away with that, even with most LCDs...

they have cables..u know witt the tree parts..green pink and blue.
