I've read that pregnant women can naturally crave things that are healthy for their baby while pregnant. There is a National Geographic documentary called "In the Womb" that I just watched last night that describes that this happens. I am almost 12 weeks, and I don't always want the most healthy foods, though I try. But I do know to trust my instincts immediately when i think something won't sit right with me.

I am sure you know this, but you should also be taking a prenatal vitamin that contains plenty of Folic Acid. In fact, all women of childbearing years should be taking a Folic Acid supplement because it is particulary crucial in the first six weeks of fetal development---when most women have no idea they are even pregnant. The good news is that a lot of cerals and bread are already supplemented with Folic Acid so you are probably already getting some.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Well, that's great! It could just be that you've realized that it isn't all about you anymore and that you have to worry about someone else now. You're doing such a great thing but eating right and giving up all the junk for your baby. I think you're body can crave these things while pregnant. I know I crave fruit like crazy, which I've always liked but eat tons of. I was never very fond of milk and i'm drinking a TON of it now. Keep it up!

More than likely you are doing it for the baby, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. You can still eat certain junk foods as long as you don't over do it. No hot stuff. Try to let the candy go.
Eat 3 cookies instead of the whole pack, eat popsicles and yogurt instead of fatty ice creams.

Keep on with the fruit and vegetables though.
Good Luck in your pregnancy and congratulations to you first time mom.

it can happen to everyone. it could be craving or just your instincts to do whats healthy for baby.
remember things like bread, buscuits, oats, red meat, fruit and vegetables are the best things to eat. a little chocolate here and there won't hurt but try and stay away from fatty foods they aren't real good. good luck with your pregnancy. motherhood is the best.

I was the same way. Suddenly my gummi bear fetish just vanished. I drank a quart of milk a day and ate raw veggies like a pampered pony. And that was while suffering a decreased appetite and nausea. I actually lost 5 lbs during the 1st 8 weeks of pregnancy...
