What kind of truck. your EGR valve could be stuck open also. The EGR is only open during cruising speeds and if it stays open at idle it creates a vacuum leak and could cause the engine to run rough or even die.

Mine use to do the same thing - I changed the fuel filter under the side of the body and it ran perfect afterwards

if it stops after running awhile then cools off and cranks back it could be the ignition module. if it will not crank with out jump starting it its the alternator. if its fuel injected check the fuel filter and fuel pump. if its carb. then check fuel filter, pump, and fuel line vapor lock.
