It seems to me Americans don't understand how the world works. They can't seem to understand that when economies outside of their own (yes, Yanks there are countries that want things besides yours) want something that it will effect the USA as well. The reason why gas prices have gone up is do to the fact that the economies of China and India are expanding and want oil. Maybe if you Americans would stop exporting your jobs there the economies would stay poor and you could have your slightly cheaper gasoline in your environment killing gas guzzlers. There is no conspiracy by the oil companies, there is not one man who decides that gasoline goes up or down based on a whim, and maybe if you people didn't treat the Middle East like your own backyard you could get slightly cheaper gas from the countries that hate you.

I'm in agreement with you, and, to answer your question, MANY Americans DO understand this!!! However the "Liberals" are not currently in the majority, in the US Congress, and, they have no policy making power, BUT, there is good news, too!!! In the upcoming Mid-Term elections, about 2/3 of American voters plan to vote the NeoConservatives out of power, so, there IS hope!!! America IS waking up!!!! An old song, from back in the 1960s says it quite well! Do you remember "The Times They Are A Changin' "??? (A good "Message Song", even today!!!)

And Europeans are paying way more for gas than Americans.

the real question here is why would we(being canadian)want to sell all of our oil to the yanks.we should be stockpiling our oil creating vast reserves then making the world beg for it.
