Yes, they do if you are anti-patriotic, anti Christian and anti Israel. If they win the next election we are a doomed America. Vote every Democrat out from the dog catcher to the Senators. A tree must be killed from it's roots up. If not it just sprouts another bad apple.

To answer your question.. Both Republicans and Democrats represent the interest of the American people..

The few, the proud, the social elites..

Yes, since you didn't ask if they represent the interest of the "majority" or "all" the American people..

Lobby groups, special interest groups, and wealthy elites shape US politics and law by financing political campains..

Read "God vs. The Gavel" by Hamilton.

You'd think that protecting children from sexual preditors is more important to the people of this country than protecting the reputation of a church right?

Lawmakers didn't think so, not only on the State level, but on the Federal level.

You'd think that protecting the poor families from being consumed by debt it more important to the people of America than protecting huge companies from closing down so that an other one can take over.

Lawmakers didn't think so. In 2005 the Bankruptsy law changed making harder for individuals to file for backruptsy.

You'd think it's in the best interest of Americans to have cheaper gas, and not promote hostilities in the Middle East, and to save $400 billion to pay off some national debt..

You see the pattern..

Democrats and Republicans are all the same in the respect that they can all be invested in..

That is what politics is to people that are too lazy to go buy toilet paper so they crack open a $100 instead.. it's an "investment".

Parties, issues, debates, elections, are all a distraction to the common people.. But in the end.. they still need some votes.. and they can't afford a revolution.. so they will try to keep you happy and quiet the best they can..

Republicans are better at that game than Democrats.. unless you're talking about names like H. Clinton and J. Liberman

I beleive they do, so does half the country.

The reason i feel this way is what they do, not just say.

for example the fact that Bush made up the term Compassionate Conservative, is funny in politics because they have to advertise that they have....compassion.

The Democratic part has evolved but it has provided some laws that sought to protect Civil Rights, even though some people in the country had an intrest in Segregation.

The Democratic party after stock market crash of 29, sought to protect the people for the future, it saw that there were safe guards needed. Safe guards which protect the most vunerable or people who may become vunerable in another crisis.

The Democratic party in Carter and Clinton strove to create peace in the Middle east because Peace, represented the safety of the american people, not preemptive war.

The Democratic party has a history of support from Unions.....but it does not mean that it is anti capitalist.....for example Clinton tried to creat health care, and major corporations supported him, because it would free up capitol, but the point was a moral responcibility to the people.

They represent the interests of the American people a hell of a lot better than the Republicans do!!! Democrats are the lesser of the two evils.

Currently, yes, the Democrats represent the interests of most Americans.

While that could change later, I believe too many people are upset with Republicans, and won't support them as much during the next election.

No, and neither do the Republicans. The Democrats have their set of constituents which they represent, at the expense of everyone else. And the Republicans do the same for theirs.

Neither of those parties are founded on a fundemental principle. If they are I'd like to hear it. Since they have no principle to guide them they flip flop around and do what ever is politically expedient at the time.

Whereas, the Libertarian party is founded on the principle that Freedom is good for everyone. And the only way to be free is to have a limited government.

The difficulty I see with the democrats is that they want to represent every disenfranchised group in America. About the only folks they don't want around are the religious ones and that's what's causing them to keep losing.

They believe they do, just like the GOP feel they represent the interest of the American People.

I think they both miss the mark

I have lost faith that anyone in the government is interested in anything but their own interested. They will say anything to get elected, and then make millions on their investments, give themselves pay raises and great retirement benefits, buddy up with corporations and be wined and dined for their votes.

Pretty cynical I know, but look at these people!

Kick them all out and put in new people of any party!

Individuals, people are the BASIS of Democracy. Groups and Special Interests are competing for gaining the special favours of Republicans in power. So what 'interests' do you mean? Affordable Universal Health Care (people) or No-Bid Contracts for mega-corporations? (Groups)
