Not according to old "Who you gonna believe, me or your own eyes" Bush.
He says things are just ducky over there. They have a government and after all this time have secured about a two square mile "green zone" for Democracy.
According to Lil' "w". 12 million Iraqi's have voted for Haliburton to keep taking their oil at deep discounts.
Yes, we have been greeted as liberators and all those family sedans that keep blowing up are all do to a much needed factory recall.

this always baffles me . there are some really well educated and genuinely smart people that are conservatives . They had to see it coming . They know enough about history to have predicted this.Under the best possible conditions democracy is difficult to plant on foreign soil, take root and thrive.
How long did we have to occupy Germany and Japan post WWII ? Why on earth would anyone think that Iraq would be different ?
Iraq is not a natural country . It is composed of three groups of people that genuinely hate each other. The country was tenuously held together by a strong armed dictator. The dictator is gone , What fills the vacuum ?
I find it really tragic that the Conservatives traded in what they knew to be true for the hubris of power

Many countries that are 'assisted' by others to throw off dictators are incapable of handling their new 'freedom'. They lack the sophistication of nationality and cohesion and struggle to find a method to deal with it. Of course, because they don't have a strong leadership (it was never developed), different strong men think they should be boss and civil strife occurs. The best method is to let people come to grips with reality on their own without foreign influence, While you don't have the luxury of reading an email I wrote to my brother 10 months ago, I predicted the government weakness in Iraq and the impending civil war. It has happened before and is happening again. If we should be so stupid as to side with one group in Sri Lanka, stop the fighting, after we left...it would occur again. The damage to the country is moot now, and withdrawing makes another 'Vietnam scenario' for us but that is indeed what we should do. They have to reach their own peace, not an artificial peace that crumbles as soon as we leave.

Do you know why democrats took the symbol of a donkey for their party symbol - it's really Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh - the donkey that always has the rain cloud over his head - just like the democrats - everything is wrong and sucks and is just awful...
Hohum - more ranting and whining from a liberal who hates to see democracy become reality... they just can't stand to see people become responsible for themselves... All you liberals would have thrown in the towel back in the 1770's and 1780's as well, because it took our country about a dozen years to straighten out things and become self sufficient after we kicked the Brits out...
Same as Germany and Japan following WW II - they were both messes well into the 50's as the merits of the Marshall Plan and rebuilding took a long time to take hold... they were full of strife and internal wars and sniping by competing rivals for power. They probably weren't worth saving either, were they? We should have just gave up and said that it's too much bother, right?
Typical liberal - always wanting to cut and run when things get tough, because doing the right thing might require some effort and sacrifice...

Agreed: Iraq is much worse off now than it was before George Bush and Dick Cheney illegally and unconstitutionally planned an invasion all because Bush had a personal vendetta against Hussein and Cheney wants all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies can get richer and richer and richer.
Face it: there was never any intent to turn Iraq into a democracy. If that's the American plan, why aren't we invading all the other despotic dictatorships around the world? Because all the other despotic dictatorships have no OIL. So let the genocide, the rapes, and the looting continues.
Bush hates Hussien because of how Saddam humiliated Bush's daddy during Desert Storm.
PREDICTION: There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWALS from Iraq until Cheney has an iron-clad, rock-solid arrangement in place to acquire all of Iraq's OIL (with the full cooperation of the new Iraqi government which Cheney helped install).
PREDICTION: We will solve our differences with North Korea diplomatically instead of going to war. Why? Because N. Korea has no OIL!
PREDICTION: As soon as Bush can figure out a plausible reason for invading Iran, we will be involved in yet another illegal, unconstitutional 'war'. Why? Because Bush and Cheney, oilmen to the death, want all of Iran's OIL, too! Bush already knows his "weapons of mass destruction" concept won't 'sell', even to his most loyal sheep. So it's going to take some time, but eventually he'll fabricate a reason for attacking Iran. He'll leak information to the press, lie to the American public, then try to censure the press when it reports something he prefers to keep secret. But some how we'll be in a 'war' with Iran before the end of 2007.

You're right: the damage we've inflicted in Iraq may never be repaired. Meanwhile, Bush has put American taxpayers deeply in debt by TRILLIONS of dolars, which makes China our biggest creditor. And once we've maxxed out our federal credit card, China's simply going to waltz in and take anything and everything they want. They'll foreclose and take our money, our real estate, military hardware, natural resources, weapons of mass destruction, and even our women if there's a demand for them in the lucrative sex-slave industry back home.
And while America looks back wondering what the hell happened, we'll be looking back at the Bush dynasty and how the Bush family cozied up to the Chinese, crawled into bed with the Saudis, went into business with the binLaden family, and ruined an Iraqi regime simply for the enrichment of the Bush and Cheney families. -RKO-

This is the current spin being propagated by the news media but it is not true.
What has happened in Iraq is that we have been successful in decapitating the enemy. Their command and control structure is now in ruins and their leadership is dead.
As a result of this, they are out of control and disorganized. They have stopped targeting the US troops that can shoot back and are now killing civilians in the streets.
The Liberal reporters that are covering the war are hoping that this random violence will touch off a civil war but they are just dreaming.
The Iraqi people are not that stupid. They know what is going on and they overwhelmingly support the new democratic government.

It's worse off now than it was under Hussein? I highly suggest you look that up. Start by searching "mass graves" and "Iraq Gulag". That'll help you.
Yes, I'm aware its on the brink of civil war. I believe it was bound to happen once people that were starved, mutilated and executed were set free. Still, I'm offended that you would think that Hussein was a better option.

I had quite a few friends tha were over there. They tell a much different story than your media driven rhetoric.
When will you learn critical thinking and realize what you see on television and the Internet is not necessarily always true. Because some loud mouth commentator with an agenda says something does not make it the truth. Everyone can make a website and can say whatever they want and not have to make it the truth either. See the truth think critically.
Illiteracy breeds ignorance and hatred.

Iraq is much worse off, and so are we, because of the war.
Not only have thousands lost their lives, and we have spent !/2 TRILLION, mostly given to no bid contractors, we have managed to destabilized that whole area of the world!
The saying that the enemy you know is often better than that of his replacement (paraphrase) will probably be true in this case!
Bush Sr. warned of insurgence and a civil war over a decade ago! Why do you think he was smart enough to not go into Iraq??

You don't know that. Remember from History Class when you were taught about the American Civil war? And look at us now, I can't go to Virginia without being called a Yankee. We were much better off before the civil war weren't we?

I think the world has started to see why sadam ruled like he did, it was only the fear of saddam that kept the peace.
But that said the UK had a civil war and so did america.
Change is painful but sometimes the only way to long term peace without our civil wars our coutries would not be the free democrocies they are today.
