We often harp on the Palestinians for electing Hamas to leadership. Have we forgotten that in the early 1900's, Americans elected more than a dozen members of the KKK to congress, and mroe than a score to other positions in the Government?

We are better today; but you are correct in recognizing that "People" do awful things and need to learn to behave if they want to be consideed civilized.

Most countries in the world, including the modern US, have set an example of good behavior in fighting descrimination and hatred. Yet the Palestinians, and others, refuse to abandon this chaotic, hate-based tribalism. Many Palestinians are born and bred to hate, it's a hard cycle to break.

Despite the aid the modern US pours into the region, and despite the help of the World to bring peace, the Palestinians continue to cling to hatred and violence. Nobody really knows what to do about it.

White Americans elected the KKK cause they were tools for a pyramid scheme that made some white people very rich....

Of course Americans are not "better" than Palestinians. Nor are Palestinians better than Americans, Israelis, Germans or whoever. It is very dangerous to believe that one people is better than another. Besides, I would like to see how peaceful the Americans would react if the majority of their land were occupied and their people discriminated against, humiliated and impoverished for decades.

We still elect KKK members to congress. Who? Hint it isn't a Republican.

And now we are electing religious zealots and "crusaders" such as George W. Bush. We are no different and no one on this planet is any better than anyone else.

Some Christians like to believe they are better because of their beliefs and they "pity" the "non-believers". I don't think Jesus pitied anyone...He loved them. You have some religious fundamentalists in our country who just feel their belief is superior and that makes them feel superior to everyone else themselves. Pride is a sin I believe, I think some of them forget that though. :)
