Shawne Merriman was incredible, and he actually deserves recognition for rookie of the year, but sadly...those awards always go to offensive players because people don't realize how much of an impact people like Merriman and Tatupu actually had on defense, they were both incredible to watch.
2006 I'm going with DeAngelo Williams from the Panthers. I like DeShaun Foster, but he probably wont be healthy all year, which is a shame because he is one of the best running backs in the league. 5 starts last season..879yards rushing and 372yards recieving...he's fast and really hard to tackle, but prone to injury. And DeAngelo is going to be the guy that will step up and compete for ROTY award.
On defense....A.J. Hawk from Green Bay. The Pack lost Na'il Diggs, so A.J. Hawk is undoubtedly the starter on that team right away, and he's going to be a huge impact player for them, but like I said, it'll probably go to an offensive player.

Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams both did good, Shawn Merriman was great for defense.
