Sweet Tobacco - delicious sweet coconut strips dusted in chocolate powder - used to be known as Spanish Gold or Spanish Tobacco - very light and bordering on addictive! yes i do.......just asked my mom and she remembers tooo.....lol

Yes and you can still buy it at the sweet shop near me. :) It does taste like coconut. They sell it loose and not in the pkt but it is the same stuff.

yep i do and believe it or not but i found a wee shop in belfast who sells all old fashioned sweets and i bought a quater of spanish tobacco just the other day

Yep, I was describing this to the girls at work only last week. only one could remember it, it was made of coconut with a coco and brown sugar coating .in a red waxed packet with a black galleon and yellow sunset on.

My favourite sweet from my youth. Like a wax packet of rough shag. Licourice covered with coconut.
I have been looking for it for years, I guess it was banned.
Having said that, I thought that it was "Spanish Galleon", so perhaps I was looking wrong.

i remember it well and you can still buy it there is a shop in margate kent just under the prom and it sells all tthe sweets we ate as kids
