It makes absolutely no sense to me that many dangerous felons come out of jail more capable of physically harming others than when they went in. Couldn't they be fed a low protien diet too?

Why would it require a constitutional amendment? By losing your freedom, you're losing your ability ot say "no" to a large degree. A good example of this is the chain gang which has been reintroduced in some states. In any case, forcing someone to do Yoga could in no way be considered cruel and unusual.

Actually, I think your idea makes sense. Low protein, yoga, stress management classes and financial management classes would help these guys to be more responsible when they get out. Since, contrary to the beliefs of Sassikatz, these people DO get out of jail, teaching them how to handle stress could only be good for society and the prisoners themselves.
Everyone knows that prison is actually a finishing school for criminals.

Love the idea but it would take a constitutional amendment. With that said why dont we make sure every prisoner must perform enough labor to pay the cost of their incarceration, just up to 40 hours per week, then they could lift weights, go to school, order pizza or exchange drug recipies. If they have no skill, well then we have lots of big rocks and we need lots of gravel.

Sounds good but have you ever heard of the movie The Falcon and the Snowman? True story of 2 traitors (American) Look it up on Wiki if you like but they don't mention the yoga story.
One of them took up yoga in prison and no one thought anything of it - he was using it to build his endurance for when he escaped, which he did, and it worked! LOL. I think they ended up catching him again though.

Ha ha I like your question! Maybe they should be taught to cook, too, as that could redirect their energies and perhaps flower arranging. Yoga would be great. But maybe they wouldn't have the patience for something like yoga with all that excessive agression.

Forget the yoga, a padded cell without ever seeing the light of day seems more suitable!!

I think that other activities besides building themselves up physically is a good idea...but you might be infringing on their constitutional rights...so says the people in favor of criminals who pass laws that allow them to live in better conditions than me.

I have wondered the same thing. Yoga, meditation, growing their own veggies, books, pet therapy, making their own bread, music (they would have to make their own) would be the only diversions they would get if I was in charge.
