Is it civilized to use civilians as a human shield?
The terrorists are civilians, they do not seperate from the population. If the "civilians" so choose this (human shield), no, it is civilized, this is war against fanatics.

The attacks on the World Trade Center was an act of war and many civilians lost their lives. The attackers would say that the losses are acceptable. Americans would say that it is not. Those who say that it is civilized probably have never lost anyone in a war in that manner. Without going into the act of war itself, no civilian should be killed in a war.

Ever since WWI the world has instituted the act of total war. This means that civilians can be just as much a target as the actual military. Is it civilised? Of course not, but it is probably here to stay.

Unfortunately, from the beginning of time civilians have ALWAYS been killed during a war. The difference between the "civilised" aspects of this reality is whether the civilians were killed accidently while going after the legitimate enemy or were killed on purpose.

It's called collateral damage and while it is not a desired outcome it is a acceptable price in military minds. I see a difference on what is going on in Lebanon though. Israel enemies are hiding within the civilian population giving Israel no choice but to incur civilian casualties. The Hezbollah rockets on the other hand are fired at and targeted at non military positions to start with. SO which is worse?

No it is not and both sides are guilty if it and if anything Israel is more guilty because the damage they're doing to the infrastructure of the country will continue killing civilians due to lack of water and medical care long after the bombs have stopped falling.

Name one war where civilians WEREN'T killed. Throughout time war has always taken a toll of the civilian population. As terrible and brutal as that may be, it is a fact.

These people being killed had their civilian status stolen from them by the lowly Hezbollah. They are no longer civilians; they are collaborators.
If you want to holler about Hezbollah getting these people killed, holler at Syria and Iran.
