I just want your general view of religion.

>>Why are you a Christian? Is it because you fear a life without a God and an afterlife? Or, is it because you fear God himself and are afraid of what he may do to you if you don't follow?

>>If you are not a Christian... Why not? Any certain reasons? Think it's ridiculous that a "spirit" made the entire planet in 6 days when it takes me two months to write an essay for a world history class? Or do you find scientific and mathematical reasoning to be more realistic? Do you simply trust facts and figures and physical evidence that you can see, touch, and feel more than you can believe in a supreme being?

I will not mention my status in this issue.
It seems to change constantly.

Maybe you used to be agnostic, but now you're not sure.

Good Question
First I am now not a Christian. I use to be until the church we went to asked my husband to step down as a Deacon because we both had been married, divorced and remarried. And the divorce was not the way they wanted it to be, according to the bible, and so we left that church and started doing some research on bible origins. For once we were reading material that opened our eyes more than the church did. I always questioned religion but got sucked into the religion aspect of everything.
One thing I question is the reality of the bible. How can anyone say that the letters written by all those people was really inspired of God? How do we know that anyone told them to write those letters? We don't. And neither did the 3 Romans at Nicea when they "voted" on the OT. And when the NT was put together it was the same thing, some letters got in and some did not. Who had the right to make that choice? Man? Exactly, man made the choice and we all go blindly into the night and believe it. If someone today was writing letters and said that God told them to we would put them in padded room. And we would say they were crazy wouldn't we? Damn right we would.
I do believe in a Creator, All Mighty or God if you prefer. You can not look at the world, the stars, the animals or human beings and say that we crawled up out of the oceans. Bull S***. I believe that the Creator is not a He, Him or anything human, It is a power we can not imagine and It went on after putting this creation into existence to other places. No I don't think It was an alien so don't put me in the Hale Bobb catagory.
I have to have the evidence shown to me and if that is wrong then too bad. I like to see evidence, the word faith that Christians always tell you to have is also a man made definition so we will not ask questions or use our brains.
So I am a Non christian who believes in a Creator and I am happy with that. I also am a good, kind, loving person who knows the difference between right and wrong and I choose to do the right things. I do think that people can lead good lives without the benefit of going to a church where all you are told is lies and how much money can you donate today?

I'm a Christian, first of all, because I was brought up that way. That's the most important factor, because I can't deny that if my parents weren't Christians, I wouldn't be either. And also, my life experiences point to the existence of a god, and Christianity seems to me to be the most believable religion that I've come across, despite the fact that I disagree with the religious right on a variety of issues. I don't fear a life without God, I just don't believe that that's how it is.

I question whether or not there is a god. I haven't seen enough proof and I can't just take it on "faith". I want evidence. And if there is a god, I wonder he's as great and powerful as people make him out to be. There are things that make no sense to me about christinity. Like, why did god create satan in the first place if he knew how that was going to turn out? And when satan did start causing trouble, why didn't god just destroy him instead of giving him an entire kingdom? So yeah....can't quite believe in god entirely, but I don't know if there's any definitive proof there's no god either. I'm agnostic.

I believe in God. However, I have not been baptized nor do I belong to any church, nor do I affiliate myself with any particular faith.

First, too my thinking, religion is merely one person's interpretation of the bible. The group that believes it says this go over here, the group that believes it says that goes over there. There's not a one of these groups (faiths) that knows for certain (although they claim to know) whether or not they are interpretting the bible properly and, thus, worshipping correctly.

Secondly, so many faiths/religions "add on" as to what they think is proper and what is not. There are religions that insist that women wear skirts. Where does it say that in the bible? There are those religions that claim dancing is evil. I didn't see that in the bible.

Thirdly, it really puts me off when ANY denomination makes a huge fuss over donations. I realize the bible suggests that we tithe; however, I'm sure God didn't intend for people to drive themselves to the poor house to do it nor did he intend for ministers and preachers to make chide those parissioners who can't donate or can only donate so much.

I certainly have other opinions which influence my decisions regarding my faith and religious beliefs; however, to save space, I won't go further. I sincerely appreciate your question, however.

I was raised going to church on occasion. When I got in high school I started going to the church youth group and learned about the sacrifice that was made for us. I still had my doubts until I became pregnant with my first child. That is a miracle that could only come from God. So, my husband and I found a good church and I began reading the Bible. After learning about Jesus and what He went through for a bunch of people that mock Him and repeatedly sin against Him, I felt a love for Him that is unexplainable.

I am a Christian because I love God and have accepted him as my lord and savior. My life doesn't go wrong, because he's always there to help me out. I'm sure there are scientific and mathamatical reasons along with the spiritual truth. And whether or not anybody agrees with me, I don't care. I'm going to still beleive what I do. Is that so wrong?

I belive in God; but I don't particuarly agree with him, or like him that much. I don't hate him; but there's just too many flaws and holes in the Catholic Religion for me to belive in it.

For example, if God loves everyone and is always forgiving, why does he send some of us to hell? Or, if he loves every human being etc. etc., why is being gay a sin? That's basically saying who they are is a sin. That's messed up. If Jesus never commited a sin, then what in God's name was he doing when he knocked over the table in the synagouge? I've just found too many things like taht for me to agree with or follow the Christian Religion. I often argue with priests or CCD teachers; but all their reasoning is far too illogical for me to agree with it. It's all just excuses.

That must be quite the weird standing point; beliving in God but not liking him that much. And before I realized this...I was only Catholic because I was scared of going to Hell.

I do believe in a higher power, but however, I do not believe in organized religions. For the most part of what I have seen in churches around my area, is that no one believes what they are preaching. This one says "Thou shalt not steal", but yet he's stealing from the church. This one says "Don't have incest", but he was having sex with his own daughter, this one says "The Holy bonds of matrimony should not be broken" but both the husband and wife was having extra-marital affairs"
