another nice quote:

Existentialism isn't so atheistic that it wears itself out showing that God doesn't exist.
Rather, it declares that even if God did exist, that would change nothing.

jane 749 gave a great example of how the belief in god helps people cope with the emotional impact of life's struggles.

thank you!

all i can say though is that perhaps you might try to increase your resilience? research suggests that PERHAPS increasing one's emotional intelligence would help in this way.

:-) good luck. i'm doing my psychology honours project on emotional intelligence and am thinking more and more how useful it would be in increasing people's resilience to have more emotional intelligence!

Proof that god DOES exist wouldn't change a whole lot

Proof that he DOESNT would change everything.

I have often thought, and said,, that the existence of God makes alll the difference! I have read some existentialist stuff,,, and it is very depressing to me. I have had long difficult struggles in my life. Because I believe in God, and in heaven,, and that everything will ultimately work out for good,, I can be patient, and I can hope, and I can persevere and think that my life is for and towards something that transcends the tangible things of here and now.

Wow... these people are considered smart? Lets see... if God exists what changes hmmmmm...

We are eternally responsible for our actions, not only "if we get caught"
This life would not be "all there is"
Man would have to admit he isn't the smartest being
Thousands of self proclaimed "geniuses" would have to say "ooops I was wrong"
More people would think twice before hurting someone
Life would be more sacred
and that's just all I feel like posting.

if thier were proof that god did exist than that would change EVERYTHING.
If we ALL knew that there was god and there was no question think of all of the effects that would across the globe, the only problem may be the death of science but i doubt that, we are all here and have a life to live, no matter what that reason we should all do our very best while we are here and try to improve ourselves as we do.

GOD does exist...find your faith

Are you one of the atheist's that came to the conclusion that HE does not exist because at some point in your life you did not get what you prayed for. Or, have you actually "studied" ALL religions then came to the conclusions that twist you thoughts?

Honey,God does exist and he wants to be in your life. How do you think you got here or anyone/thing.Yes it does make a difference in everything. As ive found out through recent experience, God is the ONLY reliable thing in your life.He is the only thing you can ever count on. I feel really bad for people who go through life without knowing the Lord.Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins and he wants us to follow him and the bible. FOR GOD SO LOVE THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON THAT WHOEVER BELIVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. It is in the good book.maybe you should try reading it and experience the wonderful power he has in your life.If we believe when we die we join him in paradise.

How could a rational person believe that God does not exist? Look at the miracles of creation of man, plants and animals. Thing that all of this is random? It is not.

Yes God does exsist and does change alot of things hes all powerful, he can do anything he wants and he might even want to destroy the world again if he wanted to. I declare that God does exsist and no one should never mess with him.

The fact is that if there were millions of "Gods," it would change nothing since they don't seem terribly concerned about the earth or anything else.

Maybe they are all too drunk or hungover to pay attention.

He'd be re-invented again. We need something to keep down all the fanatics. Remember Marx: religion is the opiate of the masses.

I disagree. If an all powerful, all knowing, and all good god existed, life would be completely different.
