In order to be saved does a priest have to baptise you? And if you are baptised and try not to sin then will you go to heaven?

What if that same priest who baptised you is later sent to jail for raping altar boys? Are you still considered saved? Or should you take another dip in the pool just to be on the safe side?

Would god recognize a baptism done by a raping priest?

Go ahead Christians, answer away.

Seems like you have your mind made up one way or the other. Why do you ask such questions when you answer so negative to all the other questions in the religion section? You should read in your bible about blasphemy. Who cares what any ones priest has done. That is for him and God to work out. As long as the heart of the person being saved is true, what does it matter what the priest has done? You have to WANT to be saved. That has nothing to do with who is doing it. Being a priest does not make anyone perfect, and God understands that. Jesus died for every ones sins! I don't know what point you have to prove but I sure hope you are getting what it is that you are after, may that be attention, kicks and giggles or what! I will pray for you and hope you have a great weekend.

If you have so many inquiries and have to be convinced to believe in God.. Why don't you just get down on your knees pray, and ask God to convince you?

I believe that anyone who believes that Jesus died on the cross for us is saved. You can't just say that you can sin now, though. You have to work at it. Nobody's perfect. If you were baptised by a raping priest, then God would know. You still said that you believed, didn't you? I think it's more about believing than the water.

I believe it is most important to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and not as essential to be baptized by water and a little ceremony in church. If you accept Jesus Christ into your heart and admit you are a sinner, you will go to Heaven. But what we are here to do for God on this earth is so much more than that.

I don't really have answers to your second and third questions because I'm not catholic and I have never had a water baptism, but I hoped I could help with the first one :) God bless!

Check it out. I know Im saved only for the simple fact that I do recon zine their is a God. I believe in the Holy Trinity.
Granted, I am a sinner & do it on a daily basis thru many means. I try not to, but cant help it. I do ask for forgivness even though I really dont deserve it.
I have been baptised, received 1st commioun & confirmed the the Cathlioc Chruch. Does that make me better than everyone else, no. What matters to me in order to be saved is the fact you have faith in your life & try to live your life thru it.

Baptism is for a believer, if you were not a believer before Baptism then it meant nothing. The priest or pastor has nothing to do with your salvation that is between you and God. To be saved, you must repent of sin and put your faith in Christ, no amount of "trying to be good" will save you.

The sacrament is valid regardless of the moral status of the one conferring it. That does not mean it is right for the priest to sin, nor should they be allowed to keep sinning, but the sacrament comes from God and is not "removed" because the priest later sins.

P.S. Catholics don't believe in an all-or-nothing "saved" life. It's an ongoing process that doesn't end until death.

No in order to be saved the only thing you need to do is believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Baptism is a symbol to the people that you are saved. Even if the priest was a rapist he would still be forgiven for his sins, and you would be to if you asked God to come into your life. think about it

You don't have to be a Priest to Baptize someone. If the Priest did engage in immoral behavior with altar boys, then he needs to be in jail.

Baptism is merely the first step in ordinary Salvation. God also uses extraordinary ways for Salvation.

The priest's conduct doesn't void his priestly duties. It just makes him an unworthy priest who besides having to answer to human authorities, will also have to answer to our God in Heaven.

Baptism by water is a symbol of your repentence for the church to see. What is important is being baptized by The Holy Spirit. If you truly repent and are baptized by The Holy Spirit, it doesn't matter what the priest that baptized you has done.
