They would have to examine their bizarre beliefs with a new perspective otherwise. It is a damn scary thing to have to question the foundation on which one's personal philosophy is based, particularly when they believe that doing so will result in eternal damnation. If you were to wake up one day and discover that your entire life is a sham, like the movie The Truman Show, you would have a hard time accepting the fact that everything you have thought was true was a lie. They are too weak and too brainwashed to look at the universe with an open mind.

I think because the explaining person did not catch the point of view of this person well and could not therefore explain things in discussion. Even not able to understand that he/she did not prove...
However I really had no experience of people who were able to teach only and had nothing to learn from others, i.e. who could prove that they were right in everything themselves. Except some fundamentalists. Fundamentalists may be not only religious, but also persons e.g. who believe that a dream of every woman should be bikini and work in a night club. Are these people also not brainwashed? Of course, one fundamentalist will not change views of another fundamentalist.
I do not agree that main thing is emotions. Every normal person has emotions. But moral values may differ really. If person's values change like make-up during a day, that is not less strange thing.

They are what is called "True Believers."
A TB believes their dogma as if brainwashed, discounting in their own minds even the most convincing arguments to prove them wrong. They believe "this is correct," therefore anything that refutes that is automatically wrong in their thinking. Mr. Bingo, for example, is a classic TB. So is Ann Coulter.
According to John Dean, in the book "Conservatives without Conscience," about 20-25 percent of right-wingers are in this class (though Dean doesnt call them True Believers). They will never be convinced even to compromise, let alone to abandon their errant ideas.
The only way to deal with them is to marginalize them by keeping them in a minority. This means, if you dont vote...you should, because they do. And we know they're nuts.

For some people anyway... fundamentalist or not or other... only way they know they are right if they can prove another wrong... kind like what your asking. Remember when point one finger the other clutched fingers are pointing back at you.

Basically, because you can challenge someone's opinions, but you can't challenge their beliefs. Don't you think your beliefs are "right?" I know I do. A Fundamentalist couldn't convince me my beliefs were wrong anymore than I could convince him.
Your belief system is a very integral part of who you are. If you prove someone's belief system is wrong, you're basically negating who they are. So they must defend it to the death!

Usually because it wasnt proof at all just mans opinion. Ive only ever seen opinions posted here... whether it be an opinion of the questioner or perhapse a copy/paste of someone elses scientific opinion but not once have I seen anything that could be called "proof" on either side.

I'll go with your argument and assume a sufficient proof was presented to disavow some aspect of Christian dogma.
Dogmatic views imply the individuals have already determined themselves to be correct ... no argument or future evidence is sufficient for them to question the established beliefs, possibly leading them to change or adjust their thinking. They are right, you are wrong ... no other potential exists to them.

Fundamentalists are brain-washed; even cult-like. You'd be wasting time & effort to try to get through to them. You just have to wait till they come to their senses.

Fundamentally speaking, I would say you are right and so are we
We do not think we are right we know we are right.
I know you must agree.
What is a fundamentalist?
