Technology, will kill even a staunch soldier. Check out the Civil war, and the advent of repeating rifles. The first World War and Machine guns, that mowed men down in the thousands, as they tried to cross No Man's Land. Forty Thousand dead in one afternoon.
What you are referring to, is a war, where guerrillas challenge a standing army.They won't defeat the Army, but they can hold off an Army indefinitely, as long as they can get the recruits to face certain death.
It happened in the Revolutionary War, The rebels were being defeated, until the French came in and supported them.Forcing the British to withdraw their troops to defend other vital areas of the British Empire.
So it really isn't a humiliation for Technology, The armies won't lose the war, but the politics of the war, can be lost, if the people of the nation, fighting the war, see no hopes of winning it, and will demand that the Politicians, will cease the war, and bring back their troops.

WE have Tomahawks with fuel-air explosive war heads. The big Tomahawks can carry 10 war heads. They can burn entire cities with fuel-air explosive.

First the MOAB, when the shock wave clears, in comes the Tomahawk. The entire city is flattened and then burned with fuel-air explosive. The fuel-air explosive burns everything left and it burns off all the oxygen. There is no way to survive!

With our satellites we can target every Arab city in any terrorist nation, and then lock them all into a firing solution. Then at 3am any morning the order was given, every Arab city targeted could be blown clean off the face of the Earth, all at the same time.

We could land our troops 30 minutes later and own the entire nation. There wouldn’t even be anyone left to shoot at our soldiers. The only thing that would be left are giant smoking holes in the sand.

Maybe then the other nations would say “ What ever you do don’t piss off the Americans! They can blow away our whole nation with the push of a button, just like they did to those stupid Arabs!”

Maybe being “ Dust in the Wind” would stop all stupid BS America bashing. At least to our face, what they to themselves behind our backs doesn’t matter.

Well, you're right and you're wrong. Technology doesn't always trump soldiers with heart and a cause worth fighting for. Certainly, the Viet Mihn vs. the French, the Soviets vs. the Germans, the Colonial Americans vs. the British, and on and on.

Of course I would not apply similar characteristics to Hezbollah or the Insurgents in Iraq. They aren't fighting for anything. They are simply murdering in the name of "who knows what". Hate is the only thing that binds them as a group. And their hate knows no bounds...women, childern, the old, the sick , the infirm...they don't care.

To suggest that terrorists ever have something in common with those who struggled to create nations is simply wrong-headed.

Murder for the sake of murder is never enobling of those who embrace it...only a slow spiral into mindless evil.
