The Jedi religion was a joke where some people tried to get it recognized as an official religion but failed because they didn't go about it correctly. I think it started in Australia.

A while back, in the UK, there was a census (where you are given a long questionarre to fill in - you have to, by law) and one of the questions on it was 'what religion are you'.

I am not sure who came up with the idea, but it was believed that if enough people put the same thing, it would then be classed as a religion.... Didn't work though

you are an atheist-then you can not become a Jedi, you must believe in the force.

Yup, believe it or not. It has been made official in a few places. No light-sabers yet.
