I have witness horrors upon horrors done upon various animals all in the name of science and human welfare. I could go into detail but imagine your worst and believe me it has either been done in deed or in spirit of another equally disturbing deed? It is one thing to kill animals for food, (though personally I do not believe in doing so, so long as we have vegetarian options), it is quite another to experiment on animals in ways that can only be described as pure evil and torturous.

Does not God urge us to treat animals with kindness and if so will you not take a stand against such injustices?

Jedi Baptist, I'd hate to be your Karma. To live by the sword is to die by the sword.

carnaby_fudge, most animal experimentation is unnecessary and can easily be determined by using other models.

There are alos plenty of volunteers that are willing to try out new drugs. Unless you are giving someone pure poison there is time to monitor the effects and stop the experiment if necessary.

I can also say this owning a health food store that many pharmaceuticals are not as effective as the alternative and natural option.

I do not believe the ends justify the means in these cases as there are other more humane ways to heal people while treating animals with the respect they deserve.

I agree, and surprisingly the bible verifies our equality with animals. "Man has no advantage over the animal" Eccesiastes 3:19.

I am surprised at how many people are justifying this. Maybe in the next life these people will be such an animal and then maybe they will understand the pure evil of the suffering caused on these poor creatures.

It is inconceivable to me that any creature should be treated cruelly. There is a humane way for everything that is necessary. I question the hardness of heart of anyone that can condone such actions.

I deplore cruelty and am sickened by the sick society we live in as evidenced by the atrocious crimes reported daily on the news. How is the human heart capable of such atrocities?

I don't know about God, and even most buddhists will eat meat under certain circumstances, but yeah it sucks. Everyone seems to be under the impression that as long as we're smarter and larger our life is more important, even though we are WAY overpopulated and we cause more destruction to this planet than anything else ever let alone meteorites.

I love animals. But if the choice is between saving the life of a human or preventing the suffering of an animal.....I choose saving human life.

think of the alternative: testing on humans or (worse) no testing at all. i think it should be as humane and painless as possible but life saving drugs need to be tested. otherwise we'll end up with countless celebrex scandals and people dying in droves because pharmaceuticals won't test out their products before selling them.

it is better than testing it on humans as some countries do.
they send their experimental labs to poor countries and all experiments are on humans!!!!
isnt that a shame on US.

Life survives at the expense of life. That is just the way it is.
