Well to answer your question. First Ilike the name. Another thing you must know is that anybody can bear any name he or she wants. It is a matter of choice. I believe one should be able to change his or her if he or she feels that there is no feeling good with it anymore. There is nothing like a name for the whites and a name for the blacks. If your parent donot wants you to bear Shameka, tell your friends to call you by the name before your parents. If they try to correct them tell themto persist.Or if you could discuss this issue with your family relative to help talk to your parents to allow you bear the name you like.If your parents love you then I know they will always want to make you happy.

What? Your question is offensive, but I will leave that alone since obviously your young and naive. Which are not bad things just being honest. Who cares if the name is a "black" name if you like it name YOUR child what you want. However I would suggest neither a black or brown name How about a purple name. Purple is a nice color.

Yes, I think it sounds like a black child's name. If you really love the name, get a cat and name it that. The cat probably won't care but unfortunately people make judgments about a person based on a name only. So think of your daughter's future school papers, employment applications, etc before making a decision.

It clearly sounds like a black name... but if you want to name your baby that you'll just have to deal with the ramifications of that, and your child will as well unfortunately. Think about naming your child a name which will sound pretty, but also not cause them any social discomforts later on.

Some people will be offended...not that there are "black" names or "white" names, to me they fit a culture....just like some are "russian" names or "french" names...its culture...Its just seems "white" people seem to say with "english or Irish" names, while african american seem to stick with their culture...ShaMeka seems to fit that culture,,,a beautiful name...and lets face it....all names, be it english, irish, french or african all come from cultures....just the way the world goes around. Look at your background,,,,any Irish in you? Some celtic names can be similar

It definitely sounds like an african-american name to me. I like it, but not for a little white girl. Sorry.
