Two things: Clinton was more sincere in his apology than Gibson, and what Gibson did was worse.

But all you hear christians saying is "Mel should be forgiven, he is sorry."

OK, so go right ahead and forgive Bill now, you disgusting hypocrites.

It is because Christians agree with Mel.

I should make the point that you have no way of knowing which one of them is "more sincere" in his apology. How can you know that? Nor have I actually ever heard Clinton apologize for much of anything, as far as I can remember. His habit seems to be to deny everything at first, then to make excuses when that tactic doesn't work anymore. Or, if finally forced into a corner, he apologizes for "causing pain" or gives some other non-apology like that which avoids actually being sorry for the action that caused the pain in the first place. Nor, with him, has it been just one thing. I get the impression from watching him that he would say and do just about anything to save his own "political viability" as he put it, and that there is no person and no principle he wouldn't betray in order to accomplish that. That kind of attitude is contemptible- I would think even non-Christians would agree on that point. Those are the reasons I dislike Clinton. I believe in redemption, and I believe in forgiveness. . . but I at least have seen little evidence that he ever repented of anything. Given a second chance, I'm fairly certain he'd act just the same way he did before, and that's not repentance. Mel Gibson, on the other hand, slipped up and said something vulgar while partially drunk, and then immediately apologized and tried to make such amends as he could. That's a much more honorable position for a man to take. Don't you think?

Actually I have forgiven Bill a long time ago. But I don't know if he has ever really repented of all the damage he had caused our nation.

BB Before Bill Clinton, You didn't have all this smut even on late night television. I remember specifically the first time Jay Leno Joked openly about the sexual practices in the white house under Clinton. I thought I was going to barf and couldn't believe they could say that crap on Television at all outside of x-rated pay for view. It quickly became acceptable talk around the water cooler and spread to the before 9 o clock television.

Things that I didn't want to ever have to explain to my teenage girl have now become a trend among teens(not mine) because "even the president did it".

Thank you Bill. OK I'm still having trouble forgiving all the crap he dumped on America. I do feel sorry for the pitiful fellow that he has become today. And I am glad the Bushes have treated him with respect as a statesman and former president. Which I doubt the Liberals will do for the Bush family. Which proves they are the bigger people.

I don't condemn Fmr. President Clinton, not my job. And just so you know, my pastor had monthly meetings with the President all through his 8 years of administration and the President was a guest speaker at a funciton at our church. And believe me, NONE of the people in our church approved of his actions!

I'm not sure if Mel Gibson's apology was sincere or not. Time will tell. If Mel Gibson had been arrested, oh, say, 8 or 10 years ago then we could give a more intelligent answer.

We are not asking forgiveness for Mel Gibson, but do forgive him. Clinton was the president of the United States and should have had higher ethics, I forgive him too, but I don't think he has changed, I don't know if Mel Gibson has or not, but he is not a role model.

Mel Gibson talks bad about Jews.

Bill Clinton raped a woman (Juanita Broderrick...), fondled many more than that, used Paula Jones for sex, called her trailer park trash and then lied about the case while under oath, got head from a young girl in the Oval Office and smoked a cigar after doing questionable things with it, all the while leaving Yassar Arafat to wait in the hot sun for over an hour.
Bill Clinton bombed Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and completely ruined their economy, even though Muslim hoardes were raping their wives and daughters. He killed people so that he could distract the American public from the fact that he is a philandering rapist and he didn't want to get thrown out of office after he was impeached.

Mel Gibson said bad things about Jews.

Get a sense of perspective. Get a grip on reality. Get your head out of your anus.
Moron.

Both of them screwed up, both of them are human. I'm tired of hearing all this trash about Mel Gibson. He's a human, he makes mistakes just like other people. Making a racial slur while drunk isn't a good thing to do, but neither is having a sexual affair with your intern when you are President of arguably one of the most powerful countries in the world.
People make racial slurs all the time - look at the white kids who refer to themselves as "n*gga's" - I don't see them being put on the news and having articles written about their blatant racism. The point is - people are racist and it's terrible and it should stop, but you can't condemn one person for saying something and then turn your back to what everyone else does and say it doesn't matter because they aren't rich and famous. People are people.

Because Mel Gibson asked for forgiveness. Former president, Bill Clinton denied that he did anything wrong and then when he was put in a corner, he apologized. Mel also is going to rehab for his addiction. I don't see former president, Bill Clinton going to rehab for his sexual addictions. I hope this answers your question

Personally I could care less about Bill or Mel, but I must point out one thing:

Mel spouted off his remarks while under the influence of alcohol.

Bill got on national television stone cold sober, looked straight into the camera, pointed his finger, and lied to the country about his affair with Monica Lewinski.

See the difference?

To me a hypocrite is when someone thinks they are better than someone else. I would never say that. We are all God's creation.

Some people say a hypocrite is someone who says they believe something, but they don't do it. I agree with that also, but I give them forgiveness because (hopefully) we all aspire to be better than we are.

I forgive Bill Clinton, but I think he must be held more accountable in his position as President of the United States, then an actor who has made a wonderful Christian based film.

What do you think?

Who in the world is asking God to forgive Gibson? These people are crazy. Only God can forgive, and the rest is not our business. Just because a person says they are a Christian doesn't mean they are.
