Buddha believed we could all reach nirvana by proper living and meditation. We become one with the universe. Some people believe that the universe is God. So you could make a case that they believe in God but it is not in the traditional sense.

Buddha was an atheist. he believed everything in the world was linked and attaining Nirvana was being able to see that link

Read any treatise on Buddhism and you will learn that his primary purpose was to re-join the supreme ONE. Buddha taught that our purpose is to get off the cosmic wheel and spend eternity with the ALL ONE. As far as I know he never used the word GOD but always described HIM.

Buddha was one of many re-reincarnations of God in the material world. That is the best prove of one God, Sublime,Divine and Omnipotent God, with many sheep's and many flocks. All of which Jesus,will inhered, in the near future.
