Yes the U.S. has failed because Iraq never wanted the U.S. or any other country to interfere with it's politics or religious beliefs. Iraq is a country that has lived like this for more years then any one can imagine and to invade that country or any country for that matter for reasons that aren't welcome is an injustice to that country.
The reason the world was given for the invasion of Iraq did not then nor does it make any sense to any one and it never will either because the reason is a lie from the get go.
No one person has the right to force beliefs onto others no matter what.
As for it ever being resolved well, that's another matter that no one can say for sure because to many innocent victims have parished because of one very big, nasty lie to cover up the real reason for this war.
If only every country would truly work for world peace then and only then can this war be resolved and not before.

Its a still a long way to go to say that US has failed there...but the way situation is worsening day-by-day, I guess that might not hold true for long...
As for resolving...well, IMO, it has become an albatross round Bush's neck...I bet the administration had not anticipated such kinda situation when the decision was made to invade Iraq...also, its a catch 22 situation, if America abandons it...it will prove to the world that US doesn't care about responsibility and if it stays there...it doesn't gain anything (apart from OIL) ...and would have to bear heavy casualties...

I doubt if Iraq can ever be turned into a democracy. There is too much strife within the nation, Sunnis and Shiites killing each other and the Kurds up North doing What? Who knows? Iraq should be abandoned and the devil with saving face. Let us get out and save American lives. Let the Shiites and Sunnis fight it out among themselves. THE MAIN PROBLEM, is Iran. They will surely move in and take over Iraq and side with the Shiites. More war. More strife.

I think the U.S. has made alot of mistakes, but if we could let your average american citizens make the decisions on Iraq policy, then maybe things could get turned around. Also I think a quick conviction and swift punishment of Saddam Hussien would solidify Americas position as "liberators" of Iraq. Werent we there to right a wrong?

Our government has failed, our military has not.our military can not fight an enemy while the media and the world is looking over their shoulders, insurgents can use any means at their disposal fair or unfair including their own propaganda machine in Al Jazeera news while our fighting men are under a microscope from their own country's media. It is a credit to our fighting men that they have taken that kind of crap and still hold their head up high
