According to the newspapers, he asked the arresting officer if he was a Jew, and then "went on a drunk tirade about how the jews are the cause of all the wars in the world."

Mel went off on a tirade. In addition to proving he hates Jews, he is also homophobic, and an out-of-control alcoholic.

I'm not exactly sure but I heard someone say it was about blaming Jews for everything that is wrong in the world. Kind of a stupid thing to say even if he was hammered.
