I know he is trying to be funny when he yells things like you are all weak and worthless, because he laughs and others laugh too, but it bothers me when he calls us fat. He says "Now those of you that are not feeling this, it's because you are too fat to know any different", then he laughs. Am I being too sensitive or is he just a buffoon? I would like to continue the class, but it really bothers me.

This type of motivation actually works for some types of people, but other people are not receptive. I'm sure he actually has helped people lose weight with this mindset.

Some people do not take personal offense, but see it as a friendly banter and overall motivates them because they don't want to be called fat.

Other people, such as yourself (I'm not knocking you), take offense to this and react badly to people like him. My advice is to either try to change the way you interpret this and use it as a motivation rather than a source of pain, or to find another trainer who is more your style.

I never liked that attitude either, but it helps some people, believe it or not. I think it's like the SNL snippets, where Dana Carvy and I forget the other guy would dress up as Arnold Schwarznegger and called themselves Hans and Franz and they were going to pump us up. Big Joke! But you know I am weak and fat and I work out and work out and I don't eat alot. I have been to the doctor and the doctor doesn't offer advise, so I guess I need a new doctor and new gym, because my doctor and gym are worthless. And, if it does bother you, get a different instructor and if you like the workout program, get earplugs so you don't have to listen to him.

I would stay with the class. He might be trying to get you all fired up just so that you might want to prove to him that you are not fat and that you can do it. Try to look at the bright before you go to the dark when you are thinking of how someone is meaning something. That is how people make mistaken impressions of people.

That is not acceptable. I would quit the class and take another one that is offered by another instructor, I don't need someone who motivates by insults...if you needed that, you could join the Marine Corps.

Every time (and I mean EVERY time) he yells that, you yell back, "Is it true that muscular men have small weiners?" Do it every time without fail. He'll get the point. If he asks you about it, make him the promise that it's going to happen every time and then keep your promise.

just think of phat....pfine hot and tasty...no if you're not motivated by this tell him and he will probably not change but worth a try so you need to ask yourself is it worth what I am getting out of it?

If it bothers you, tell him. You are paying him. Tell him you don't appriciate his comments, and you can always take you business elsewhere.
