At the end of this post I will give you the best theme song from any TV show in history, but you will have never heard of it, so here are some you have heard of...

Gilmore Girls
Grey's Anatomy
M*A*S*H
Greatest American Hero
Adams Family
Hill Street Blues
The A-Team

And now, THE BEST EVER is... the closing theme song from the recent (and completely brilliant) Japanese anime:

"THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA"

(in case you're interested, the song is called "Hare Hare Yuka" and it's sung by Hirano Aya, who also performs the voice of Haruhi Suzumiya in the show)

If you're interested in the frankly bizarre devotion this song has been inspiring in geeks like me of late, do a search for it on YouTube.com and see the dozens of freaks who have created videos re-nacting the dance steps which go along with the song during the closing credits on the show.

Father Knows Best, Leave It to Beaver, Bonanza, Gilligans Island, Lost in Space, I Dream of Jeannie, Dallas, Monk, Star Trek(original), Brady Bunch, My Three Sons, The X files; some are just instrumentals, but still great! Oh, I Love Lucy and Miami Vice...

Facts of Life
Greatest American Hero
Brady Bunch
Green Acres
Fresh Prince
Jeopardy (I know it's not a song, but don't we all hum that at our friends when they take too long on a board game?)
Sponge Bob
Sesame Street
Rawhide (Not sure which western this was the theme for, not Bonanza)
Good Times

UUuuummmm....that's all I can think of...

I don't think they should count if they weren't written for the show...like CSI theme, etc.

Ohhh there are so many good ones I forgot!! I love this question!!

The most annoying theme song has got to be the Alias theme song.
