How does Vincent go from Maxines son at the beginning of the series to being her nephew at the end of the series. Does anyone know what episode explains this?

Vincent never is Maxine's nephew, always her son. Vincent leave for a while and that is when Kyle, Maxine's nephew moves in. Vincent ends up returning from San Francisco and Kyle is still around.

Vincent is always Maxine's son. Her nephew was a whole different guy. The Nephew was a drug addict, recovering. Vincent was the writer. When the nephew comes onto the scene as a regular, Vincent actually leaves the show, except for intermittent "cameo" shots.

Vincent has always been Maxine's son..Kyle, Maxine's nephew from her estranged brother is who you are referring to...that was my very favorite show, I cannot believe that they took it off the air...the relationship between Maxine and Amy is fantastic and I really enjoyed all of the characters in the show....in answer to your question, there is no episode explaining this as it is not true... if you look closely, Vincent is light brown haired, while Kyle is blond and blue-eyed....(I take it you are watching reruns on TNT???)

Vincent left the series for a few years and was back for the last season. A nephew stayed with them during Vincent's absence.

He doesn't. He leaves town. Her brother's son, her nephew, Kyle, comes to town. He is a recovering drug addict doctor. The son comes back close to the end of the show, however. It was a great show the first couple of years, then got stupid towards the end.

He doesn't, he's always their son. However there is another character that is her nephew, I forget his name.

I don't know, I quit watching. I got tired of listening to a broad who makes 4 times my annual salary whining about how broke she is. And that brat kid of hers needs a woodshedding.
