for them to look good and natural do te very light pink with french tip. File them as necessary and definitely get a manicure to take the excess skin off your nails. To make them stronger you can buy a sally's nail polish that says it makes them stronger or put some garlic in a clear nail polish and use that as a top coat.

There's this polish without all the dangerous ingredients. I think the site is: www.anisecosmetics.com. No advertising lol!
Helped me growing my nails stronger.. Get three colors. Beige, rosé and classic red, so you have something for any occasion.
When done with the color finish with a transparent top-coat.

Get yourself this little manicure machine to get rid of excessive skin and to keep the surface soft and even. Don't forget to put cream on them before you go to bed.

Personally I'd stay away from acrylic nails. I tried it last year, it made my nails thin. You have to repeat it every one or 2 weeks. Also there's the risk for fungy infections. Doesn't look natural, too.

Good luck

If you want long nails, use a cover coat that has nail hardener in it. The best color of nail polish is dependent upon what you like. This is how i do my nails: I use nailpolish remover to get dirt off. But if you do this then you have to use a qtip or a cotton ball. I clip/file them. Then I use a special nail polish(usually it has nail polish hardener). Then I use a coat of clear polish that prevents your nail from chipping. Tips: never bite nails, never clip nails when you have nail polish on.

I've never been able to make my own nails look good. The polish never goes on completely smooth and they tear and break like crazy. I recently broke down and went to a nail salon. Had tips (solar nails) put on for $35 with a french mani. And every 2-3 weeks I have to get them filled in for $26. We don't have much money but I'm sacrificing a few trips thru the drive-through for this one guilty pleasure. If you get the tips with regular polish it's probably a little cheaper on the maintenance side.

You can have acrylic over your real nails but it's a pain and costly. Try a multi vitamin, with gelatin for hair and nails. Clear coat is really the best, hard as nails by sally Henson works well but I'll be honest nothing is really gonna be a magic cure. Some people including myself are born with this prob, along with thin hair, there are plenty of hair thickening products that just temporarily do the trick Good luck

Take care of your nails and make sure it doesn't use a lot of force with really hard things. You'd have to shape them and lightly coat them with a nice nailpolish, I like pale ones that match more to my skin colour. An than you would coat them with clear nailpolish so it will make the nails shine.

Use a cuticle oil and keep your cuticles cleaned and pushed back, get a manicure at least once a month, soak, and get rid of dead skin. Go to your local mail....get some stuff called DEADSEAMINERALS.... this stuff works, I stand by it! File your nails, and buff your nails, pick a soft color, not a strong color. Acrylic nails can be an easy fix, but if your going to do that stick with it. And ALWAYS check out your salon, make sure they are reputible, and your not going to get some type of an infection!

i had the same problem and alll of a sudden i didnt have that problem ne more. I think its becuz i stopped using my hands alot. I used to wash ALOT of dishes all the time and i used to do alot of house chores, I was also very stressed, but when i stopped my nails grew long with no problem. So just relax if your stressed out and stop overdoing on work. Becuz if the problem is stress no polish will help much.

My nails also tend to break very easily. So I grow them not too long and always have a nail color on it so that when in kitchen or shower, they won't be broken.

My nails break really easily too, so I got them done in acrylic. The place I go to does them really well, and if you just look really quickly, you can't tell that their fake.

The best nail polish colour is which ever one goes best with your skin tone. I really like purples.
