Alucard is the best, but please leave him out of the movie.
If you are gonna make one, get a Belmont, Simon would be a good choice since he is the most popular. Alucard could come in as a supporting cast but not as a main character. Besides, he already had his limelight in Symphony of the Night.

I think that Alucard (Dracula in reverse) is the coolest by far. I always prefer the anti-hero or at least the hero who has a dark side, the internal battle of good and evil, the oppertunity of seduction, this makes a character far more interesting than the simple 'goody two shoes' with all the moral and no personality!
In all the movie and stuff I always prefer the evil babe and not the good one, the bad guys generally make more interesting characters.
Go for Alucard. That's Dracula in reverse...

Simon Belmont, the orignal hero is by far the best. You could count Alucard, since he is the real best because he's the son of dracula, but that's just not fair. So Simon gets the crown.

i like soma cruz from dawn of sorrow. i know he is in a previous title: aria of sorrow, but i have yet to play it. soma cruz is cool and great to play with. he gets my vote as best castlevania hero.
