Innocent Devils in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness?

Ok, I know that it takes "X" number of "Y" evo crystals to make an ID evolve to a new form. My question is, can I use a combination of crystals to make it evolve?

For example, If an ID needs 40 sword or axe crystals, will 20 sword crystals and 20 axe crystals do the job?

Yes, that will work. And if you want to get every devil in the game, you need to steal from every boss in the game. Something I wish I had known when I played through.
